Pro Even Through Disaster

Michael managed to get my felony THC case dismissed during the aftermath of hurricane Harvey. The DA didn't want to dismiss, but Michael was prepared to fight the charges with me and had compiled enough evidence to scare the prosecution off. Michael was extremely easy to work with. He is att...entive and focused. Our calls/conversations were always concise and helped keep me calm through a terrifying ordeal. To note, Michael seems to be a busy man, because he is an outstanding lawyer. He had to deal with multiple cases the day I was in court. He was cool, calm and collected through the entire process (even when dealing with my Mother and girlfriend while I was in jail). TL;DR: Michael Mercer is an outstanding criminal lawyer. Hire him.

Contacted, consultations given, and hiring of Michael Mercer and his team.

Atty Mercer, I would like to thank-you and your team so, so, much for representing Nick. Nick's offense of being arrested for violation of parole within a week from being released from prison was a devastation and hurt. Having your team named by ones who are familiar with such critical occurren...ces given to us, we became trustworthy of seeking representation for this criminal case offense. The timeliness of reaching you, securing and giving information and given a reasonable quote was done professionally and within a week's timeline. In your working with my son there was a visitation timeline for consultation as well as Nick making phone calls from the jail to you, You were honest in the discussion of the law and charges. But you were able to present facts that were not covered and left out of the Police report (as body cam video was not able to be provided to back up what the Police had written down to what Nick had said were not all totally true. As well as the surveillance camera video was said to be not working at the commercial property and then a change came about to say after a week or two videos are taken out and distorted and this place had done so), In Nick's defense you presented to him straight forward discussions that spoke in areas of truth regarding things he had done as well as where there was hope for fairness in the judicial arena. In your many returned phone calls to me I was given straight forward info regarding the case but also I was given knowledge as to see how there was hope and not give up and that Nick had options given and what suggestions would be in his favor. One of our big break-through a was Atty Mercer's suggestion of changing courts for Nick's hearing. This proved out to be a successful move. Nick is now out within a couple of months with parole officer reporting and addiction consulting. He is so much appreciative to be out and starting in a new life. Atty Mercer, I would like to thank-you and your team so, so, much for representing Nick. I'm praying this will be the trial of his life & his addiction knowing he will not get this chance again; and now work to gain stamina to move slowly and choose right choices. He has now awaiting to be transferred to a family residence. God Bless, Nick's MoM

Unprofessional

This is my third time hiring Mr. Mercer. I have hired him twice before and he helped out a lot. I hired him to help get me off of my probation case in early April 2016. I had been in contact with him throughout the duration of my probation and he was very helpful. Sometimes it was hard to reach him ...after I hired him yet I understand he is a very busy lawyer. Being he worked on this particular case and helped me get probation I kept in contact. I got an extension for a year for a couple mishaps and recently due to medical issues, doctor visits, medication and not being able to drive I was trying to get off. I had already done everything I needed to do so. So I'm focusing on my heath issues. He did not think I needed to still be on probation and was trying to help. Now mind you my doctor passed away and I had to see a floater doctor due to the large caseload of my former PCP. My PCP office was extremely hectic as he was a well known physician and his receptionist quit; the person who wrote my letters. This time I'm appalled at the way I was treated the other day when he called me. He has always been professional with me up until now. Due to certain circumstances I've been faxing letters from several doctors etc. Now I'm being falsely accused of something I did not do. I was under the understanding that as my lawyer he would hear my side of the story and stand by my side and help me prove my innocence. Instead he called me and told me very rudely that I lied and falsified information, that our relationship was over, a few other things about his integrity and career and that I now have a warrant for my arrest and hung up. I texted him to please hear me out and I was in fact not lying about anything. He called me back telling me to post bond or turn myself in and explain it to the judge. I tried to ask questions about my case and his response was I don't know. I have spoken to other lawyers about this and they have said that it is in fact very unprofessional and regardless he is supposed to be professional whether I did what I was accused of or not. The fact I hired him he should have kept it professional and helped prove my innocence instead of talking to me the way he did and basically dropping me. It in fact hurt my feelings because over the 3 years that we have had a professional relationship he treated me like I was a criminal and didn't believe what I was saying. A couple of months ago I would have referred him to anyone that asked me about legal advice. Now I cant say that I would because as my lawyer he didn't handle this professionally and hear my side of the story. Instead he was very rude in what he said and the way I was treated. I want a lawyer that will in fact help me prove my innocence and not also falsely accuse me. That isn't why I hired him. I trusted him and instead he didn't do his job by defending but actually accusing me Now I'm having to seek other legal consultations to defend my innocence after I already paid him. I just find it very unprofessional.

This client hired my firm on two prior occasions with very favorable results, as she points out in her review. Unfortunately, this client took advantage of the trust we developed as attorney-client and committed a very serious form of fraud against myself and the court.
