Ms. Koenig was admitted to the State Bar of Texas on November 10, 1988 and admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on March 17, 1989; in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas on September 9, 1989; the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas on November 13, 1996; and in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on October 12, 1989.
Ms. Koenig is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The College of the State Bar of Texas, the Federal Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and a former member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. She is also a former member of the Houston Women's Bankruptcy Conference and a member and former Secretary/Treasurer and former Vice President of the Houston Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, f/k/a the Houston Association of Debtor's Attorneys.
Ms. Koenig is a distinguished speaker, and has presented topics at many seminars, including the International Bankruptcy Seminar.
Ms. Koenig received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A & M University in 1981 and received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree from South Texas College of Law in May, 1988. Ms. Koenig practiced with the law firm of J. Craig Cowgill and Associates from 1989 until 1998. Ms. Koenig was in private practice from 1998 until 2001.
In 2001, Rodney Tow and Julie Koenig formed a partnership and started Tow & Koenig, PLLC, a boutique law firm, specializing in all types of bankruptcy matters.
In December of 2014 she joined the law firm of Cooper & Scully, PC to head up their bankruptcy department.Ms. Koenig's legal practice consists primarily of bankruptcy and related matters, both for creditors, debtors and Trustees with the firm of Cooper & Scully, PC. She handles Chapter 7 & 11 Bankruptcies for both individuals and businesses and Adversary Proceedings in the Federal Bankruptcy Court. She also represents Chapter 7 Trustees.
Ms. Koenig is a Master Gardner and loves fishing, hunting and hiking in the great outdoors.
