Christina A. Bryan

Christina "Chris" Bryan has been trial counsel for companies in the healthcare and energy industries for over twenty years.  She has tried cases to verdict for businesses and individuals, plaintiffs and defendants.  Ms. Bryan has also won appeals in state and federal court and handled dozens of mediations.  Clients and peers alike respect her as a zealous advocate who masters the details of cases without ever losing sight of the impact litigation has on her clients’ businesses.

In her healthcare practice, Ms. Bryan has successfully represented the largest hospital system in the southwest in many professional negligence suits, a bio­pharmaceutical company on securities fraud and shareholder derivative claims, various hospitals on FCA retaliation, breach of contract and Section 1983 claims, and individual physicians and physician groups in business disputes.  She has also consulted with clients regarding HIPPA compliance.  In a frequently­cited healthcare case, she obtained a summary judgment in federal district court that helped define the limits of a cause of action under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act and then successfully briefed and argued the appeal in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Bryan’s energy industry clients include one of the largest land­based drilling companies, a top drive manufacturer, an oilfield valve manufacturer, and various oilfield service companies, petrochemical companies, and energy­focused private equity groups.  She has recently represented energy clients in cases involving breach of contract and fiduciary duty, fraud, conspiracy, trade secrets, copyright, and shareholder derivative claims under state and federal securities laws.

Repeatedly recognized by Texas Super Lawyers and Benchmark Litigation, Ms. Bryan earned two undergraduate degrees from the University of Texas, both with highest honors.  She graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and clerked for the Honorable Homer Thornberry on the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  Ms. Bryan is active in the Houston community as President of the Board of Directors of Inprint, a non­profit organization dedicated to promoting creative writing and reading, and as a Board Member of Buffalo Bayou Partnership.
