Barry Gormley is a horrible lawyer!

Was absolutely horrible for my entire case, was impossible to get ahold of, and did not inform of me of the plea he had me take, I ended up with 10 months of probation when I could have walked away Scott free! Don’t waste your time with this man who doesn’t care about your freedom!

Reference this review: Even though the review is anonymous, I know who the defendant is because he makes reference to the 10 months deferred adjudication, which is the case that was disposed off on October 17, 2025, the same day he posts this anonymous review. For reasons of privacy, I will not disclose the identity of the person. Firstly to clarify; I was not a hired/retained attorney but court appointed on 9-10-24. When court appointed, even though the remuneration is minimal (in this instance $350 flat fee for everything, which covered 7 court appearances, 3 jury trial setting and several consultations, I continue to accept court appointments because I still believe everyone irrespective of income deserves a high level of legal representation and I work as hard for indigent defendants as I would if it was a retained client paying $5,000. Over 25 years, I have worked hard to build up a strong professional reputation and anonymous posts such as this will not be tolerated. With that being said, this client was facing two charges, an assault on a family member (the mother of his daughter) and interference with an emergency telephone call. The client told me he was not guilty and wanted a jury trial. The case was set for a jury trial but reset by the court on several dates. The case was prepared as a contested jury trial. But ultimately, the client did not want to take it to trial and potentially be found guilty of an assault and run the risk of going to jail for up to 365 days. That is understandable and therefore he wanted to resolve the case in the most favorable terms. The plea deal negotiated on his behalf saw the assault charge dismissed with 10 months deferred adjudication for the charge of interference with an emergency telephone call, which if he successfully completes, will see the charge dismissed. That is a fantastic resolution. It is interesting that he states: “…I could have walked away Scott free.” Perhaps a jury may have found him not guilty but we will never know since he did not want to go to trial. This defendant made a fully informed decision to accept a plea bargain offer, but sometime between leaving the courthouse on 10-17-25 and posting this anonymous review, he believed he could have walked away Scott free. It is disappointing that persons post anonymously and attack the professional reputation of a hard working criminal defense attorney. As Michael Hyatt said: “Anonymous comments are the refuge of cowards.” His comment now smacks a little bit of buyer’s remorse. Everyone I represent has my personal cellphone number and I am available to discuss their case. I am incredibly busy and if clients are unable to reach me during the day, I return calls in the evening. Barry J. Gormley Attorney at Law

My husband's lawyer

Does anyone know how to get a hold of him, Mr. Gormley? My husband is his client and I can't get in contact.

If court appointed, the court office gives out my personal details. If a retained client, the client has my details. Everyone I represent has my personal cellphone number and I am available to discuss their case. I am incredibly busy and if clients are unable to reach me during the day, I return calls in the evening. Due to client confidentiality, I can only discuss cases with the client and unfortunately, family members struggle to understand that I cannot discuss their loved one's case with them without prior permission. Awesome Attorney!

Mr.Gormley was very honest, direct, and respectful. I appreciated his knowledge, kindness and professionalism. Most court appointed attorneys are just doing a job, his work ethics and integrity I'm so thankful for. I honestly feel like he represented my son to the best of his ability and with genuine... concern.

I don't use social media, as I'm just too busy working to have a social media profile but just saw this wonderful review after a disgruntled client posted an anonymous review on 10-17-25. I really appreciate your positive words. Thank you for the comment. Sincerely, Barry J. Gormley Attorney at Law
