My daughter and I recently talked about what happened to us in 2013. This was one of the worst experiences we had relating to my post-divorce. I hired Mr. Blythe regarding child support and my daughter's rights regarding custody, as she was afraid of her father. Despite my ex-husband not being coope...rative on any level and communicating he would not cooperate, Mr. Blythe took the longest route to gain documentation from him and even admitted failing to move forward during the holiday season. Months later, after records were received and a hearing needed to be scheduled, Mr. Blythe ceased to communicate with me, failing to return calls and emails, and, after almost a year of legal maneuvering, never scheduled a hearing. My last email to him was requesting him to set a hearing and his response was he would "respond further" at a later date. He never did. A couple of weeks after that email, I made a phone call regarding questions about my legal boundaries for protecting my daughter - as her angry father was on the way - and Mr. Blythe would not take my call, as per his assistant, he was present in the office. He never returned my call, either. Within 3 weeks of that call, my father passed away, and battling an attorney AND my ex-husband just wasn't something I could sustain. This wasn't about money owed. Had Mr. Blythe given me an invoice because my original retainer/payment had been exhausted, I would have paid it. I needed to get into court for a resolution. He flat out refused to communicate with me - with NO explanation. Zip, zero, nada. I didn't know I had any recourse to go to the State Bar for this, or I would have sought action. I still have emails and records. Mr. Blythe failed miserably in my case. I get it this looks like a disgruntled ex-wife and I understand in custody/child support how wild accusations get thrown around. I work in the court system, so I am very familiar with the drama. This was a woman with a child - both without power, hiring an attorney to act on their behalf, and the hired attorney turned his back. I would not recommend Stephen Blythe to anyone, under any circumstances.
