Client and girlfriend were heavy in the dope scene. Altercation with girlfriends brother ended up with client (supposedly) shooting brother, killing him. Our defense was self-defense. Brother was co ... ming at them as they were in the car trying to leave. Two problems, is there still a need to actually shoot someone as you are trying to drive off? Did my client actually pull the trigger or was it the sister? After a great job by our Investigator, we were prepared to try the case. Problem, girlfriend had a deal with DA for 10 years deferred, if boyfriend would take plea. My client would not listen to me and plead, so the girlfriend could take a deal, I told him she couldn't make. Girlfriend ended up violating probation and ended up in the pen within 2 years.
OUTCOME: Won, $75,000 for client
New home construction in Harris County. The home's foundation developed cracks and was causing serious problems throughout the home. At a minimum piers had to be put in the foundation to try and stop ... the damage. A suit was filed under the Residential Liability Construction Act and no offer of settlement was even made. Judgment for Plaintiff for over $75000.
OUTCOME: Won getting a take nothing verdict for the defense
When all the Banks were failing in the early late 80s and early 90s, the FDIC had to pay a lot of claims. FDIC went after my client and several Co-Defendants as guarantors on some notes. After a 3 da ... y trial we got a take nothing Judgment for the Defense. This was one of my proudest cases because I was a baby lawyer and I don't think the firm actually thought we would win.

Client was alleged to have tried to smother his girlfriend with a pillow. I thought the case was week from the start. No marks, no real history of physical abuse. Was some drug issues. I had the DA ... agree to reduce an attempted murder charge to simple assault. Not even a family violence finding.

Client's husband killed in Iraq. Client fell into depression and drugs and lost her children to Paternal Grandmother. Grandmother made false allegations, changed counselors, brain washed the kids, it ... was a mess. Client had gone through $250,000 in insurance money. Client didn't initially follow directions well, but after a 3 year battle we had a final trial and the kids were placed back with their Mother.
