Unprofessional, combative, and disorganized

My sister and I went to see Rita as we’ve heard her retainer fee is ‘’more affordable” and the consultation fee is free. Who doesn’t like to save money? As soon as we sat down she snatched the paper from my sisters hand, took notes, asked questions on where my sister lived/lives and as my sister i...s trying to give her the break down she cuts her off. Over, and over again. She kept telling her she was a child, and “this is what happens when children have children”. She assumed we didn’t have any money to pay the retainer fee, (which was her second mistake the first being how she treated my sister whom is taking the necessary steps to protect her daughter like she was beneath her). I will not be giving my money to someone I have to defend myself against. Especially this being our first experience with having to go into such a difficult situation to receive information and advice on what to do next, or how this all even works. We spent the majority of our time there trying to get a word across, to be interrupted and disrespected. She did not look over any of the paperwork “proof” we had and just assumed we had nothing ( that was her third mistake) We spent 30-45 minutes in a disgusting office caked with dirt, and dog hair. A place of business with people’s personal information sitting openly, in disarray on her desks, while being verbally put down. So Rita, thank you for the free “advice”. I hope life extends you the same courtesy you give to others. If you fight in the courtroom based solely on assumptions the way you do against potential clientele I don’t see how you have made it this far. I hope you find peace in this life, as it is very apparent that you need it.

Excellent divorce lawyer

I retained Rita for an uncontested divorce in 2010. Her retainer was more than reasonable. I think I paid a $1700 retainer and her paperwork showed she completed it for around $1200; very honest. She also seems very experienced and as a result, was very direct and to-the-point. She said what need...ed to be said and didn't waste time discussing things that didn't need discussed; which worked out great for me since I wasn't there for a $200/hr friend to chat with. Everything was filed where it needed to be and all expected paperwork showed up when I was told it would. Was happily divorced as soon as permitted.

Unethical

A friend referred her to me and said she was a fighter and would fight for my rights as a mother. She barely let me talk and said that I didn't have a case because the judge and the other attorney shared an office in the past and were very good friends and that the attorney probably took measures to ...make sure that judge was the presiding judge which I thought was unethical. Rita just kept saying that I was screwed and I would lose and have to pay child support. She was very rude and inconsiderate, stirred up conflict of interest fears about the judge, and treated me like I was a criminal.

FANTASTIC

Rita has helped me through a divorce and custody battle. Rita work quickly and efficiently. She is a no nonsense lawyer and gets down to what needs to get done. She dug deep and made sure I was put in a position to win and she helped me win custody over my child. I recommend Rita to anyone because sh...e takes care of business and doesn't mess around.

Don't Hire!

She represented me in 1996 as my divorce attorney. Although the divorce was completed, she didn't send the proper documentation to my ex's employer, so I could receive 1/2 of his retirement as stated in the divorce decree. I have called her office many times about this and she has not returned one ...phone call!!
