The client, Marilyn Kildate, was a divorcee whose husband had committed, in the judgment of divorce, to making her the beneficiary of a life insurance policy. However, instead of taking that step, the ... ex-husband designated several friends, George and Helene Phillips, as the beneficiaries, who collected the $200,000.00 in benefits. A suit was brought against Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, who ultimately surrendered the entire $200,000.00 to be held in the escrow pending a potential objection by the ex-husband's estate.
