I come from a multi-disciplinary educational background that has greatly influenced how I view the role of attorneys and our jobs as counselors of law. My experience as an entrepreneur and my family background in real estate has also greatly influenced how I view the practice of law.
While in graduate school, I founded a land mobile radio business that catered to the communication needs of school districts and small municipalities throughout North and Central Texas. With the rapid growth I experienced over the course of 5 years, I learned that having an accessible attorney who served as both a legal advisor and teacher was invaluable to the success of a business that I later sold after entering law school.
I’ve also been involved with my family’s real estate investments for almost 15 years. I started out working on rehabbing properties (I became fairly adept at drywalling) and later became a property manager before I graduated from law school and passed the bar. Currently, I have single-family residential holdings in Central, North, and West Texas. Over the years, I have spent a significant amount of time researching, writing, and teaching the applications and limits of the Series LLC model for real estate investors in Texas. I am currently using the Series LLC model for my own holdings and have recently began applying the Series LLC model in conjunction with family limited partnerships.
I am also an educator of over twelve years teaching at various community colleges and universities. In the past, I have taught Texas History, Texas Constitutional Law, U.S. Constitutional Law, and several intensive courses regarding the Civil War-era Texas Supreme Court and Reconstruction-era litigation.
Currently, I serve as a Lecturer in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas, where I teach Business Law, Business Ethics, Estate Planning, and Negotiations. My primary areas of academic scholarship are the Series LLC model, taxation of irrevocable trusts, and real estate disclosure ethics.
Overall, I feel a holistic approach to problem-solving provides a unique avenue to explore the intersections of various areas of law, such as business formations and operations, estates, real estate, trusts, and tax law. I look forward to getting to know each and every client, as my goal is to provide comprehensive legal services that are tailored specifically to each client’s needs.

The easiest lawyer i've ever worked with.
Richard was VERY courteous and helpful when setting up all of the documents for my LLC. I highly recommend using Richard for any tax or llc needs.
