Steve Jumes is Certified in Criminal Law by the State of Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2003. Before becoming a defense practitioner, he was supervisor of the Grand Jury Division of the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office as well as specialized in the prosecution of sexual and physical child abuse cases for that office. While working as a a prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office he specialized in Public Integrity prosecutions. Additionally, while working for the United States Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Texas he handled white collar cases involving tax refund fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, as well as bank robbery, and mail fraud. He also specialized in criminal and civil asset forfeiture in that office.

Since 2013 he began private practice providing criminal and asset forfeiture defense in cases ranging from DWI, murder, healthcare fraud, theft, conspiracy to possess or distribute drugs, and continuous assault of a child. He has been asked to make presentations for the Texas State Bar, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association, and the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association.

He has made numerous television, radio, and print appearances regarding asset forfeiture including the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Dallas Morning News, WFAA -ABC news, KXTX-NBC news, KERA, and McCuistion TV. He also testified before subcommittees of the Texas State House and Senate regarding asset forfeiture.

Honest caring attorney - strong recommend
I am so thankful I found Steve to help with my federal restitution problem. His knowledge of the federal system is impressive and as a former federal prosecutor, he knows the ins and outs of the system. After thoroughly researching my issue he made sure I completely understood my options and gave me his honest opinion on how best to proceed. I wholeheartedly agreed with him and he was able to quickly resolve my issue. I needed a lawyer to represent me in a federal case that had experience and would fight to get me the best possible outcome. Steve Jumes, with the law firm Varghese/Summersett, was the right choice for me. Steve has been a prosecutor in the federal system and his first hand knowledge of the system really had an outcome on my sentence. Great Firm
My son,had got himself in trouble with drugs and started to run with people who you would say had questionable character,and of course they did . I am his step dad,and have been in on and consulted with his Attorneys and have not been left in the dark. They were susesfull in getting him a redused sentence,from a very conservative Juudge,and had the State charges droped . I beleave that the representation on his behalf was adiquit,and I am satisfied thus far.

I am happy with the services of Varghese Summersett. Steve Jumes and his team were able to negotiate with the prosecutor to return money that was seized from me. I would recommend anyone in a situation where money or assets were seized from them to contact him. Communication was excellent and I was notified of the status of the case on a regular basis.
