About David

Learn David’s areas of practice.

Dave Joeckel is and always has been a trial lawyer. He has a genuine talent for resolving disputes.

He attended Texas Tech University, where he was a 3-year starter and 4-year football letterman for the Red Raiders. After earning his BBA in Lubbock, he also pursued his JD from Texas Tech Law School, where he was appointed to Law Review and graduated with honors in 1986.

For the last 15 plus years, Dave has been a sole practitioner in Dallas-Fort Worth and has handled hundreds of cases for injured and wronged individuals. Previously, he had honed his skills as a partner at the 300-laywer firm Hopkins & Sutter.

Dave is also a recognized expert in bad faith insurances practices in that he has presented at four different seminars on this subject. Dave is equally comfortable in practicing before state or federal courts. His license allows him to practice in all of the state courts in Texas and he is also licensed to practice before Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Divisions of Texas of the United States District Courts, The Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Dave has tried more than twenty trials to a jury, and has handled appeals before at least ten appellate courts. In Texas, virtually all cases go to mediation. For this reason, Dave is a trained mediator. He has used his training to benefit his clients who settle at mediation.

Not only is Dave committed to helping his clients, he is also committed to helping his community. For the last ten years, Dave has handled church disputes as an arbitrator for the Lutheran Church. He has served on the board at Arlington Museum of Art, Dental Health for Arlington, Girls, Inc. of Tarrant County, Arlington Philharmonic, Arlington Colt Football Booster Club and Arlington Colt Volleyball Booster Club. Dave also founded the Weekly Legal Clinic at Lutheran Inter-City Network Coalition in North Fort Worth, and was also founder of both the Spirit and Sports Camp at Grace Lutheran Church in Arlington and the Dad’s Club at Hill Elementary in Arlington, Texas. Finally, Dave has helped kids by coaching 23 different teams while his kids were growing up, including nine years of youth football, three years of youth volleyball, four years of youth soccer, two years of youth baseball, and five years of high school football seven-on-seven.

Dave has been married to Reecanne Joeckel for 28 years.  They were high school sweethearts, and attended Texas Tech together.  Reecanne and a partner own Brandera, an advertising agency in Fort Worth, Texas.

Athletics have always been a big part of the Joeckel household.  Dave and Reecanne were both athletes, and likewise, so are their children.  The oldest son, David, 23, is now a math teacher and football coach at North Mesquite High School.  David was an All-Conference and All-Region offensive lineman at DePauw University, where he earned a Economics degree.  Sarah, 21, is a junior at Texas Christian University.  She is pursuing a Motion Science degree with the plan of attending Physician Assistant School after college.  She is a two year letterman on TCU’s volleyball team and has two more years of eligibility.  Twins Matt and Luke, 19, are freshman business majors at Texas A&M University.  They play football at A&M.  Matt, a quarterback, was redshirted for the 2010 season, and Luke, an offensive left tackle, started every game this season for the Aggies.

Discrimination, Harrassment and Retaliation
I strongly recommend Attorney David B. Joeckel, Jr. Law Firm to fight for you, to be your advocate! Upon meeting Attorney Joeckel, he was thorough in asking questions, but equally as important, he listened and was genuinely compassionate. I experienced employment discrimination: racial discrimination, bullying, harassment and ultimately wrongful termination. This company had a culture of systemic racial discrimination, bias, and inequality. Fear for your job, you were reluctant to speaking up without the fear of reprisal such as bullying, harassment and discrimination to name a few. Attorney David Joeckel, Attorney Jack Walters and staff were absolutely amazing! They believed in me and my case which never waivered. This was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but it was well worth it. You have to stand up to bullies and say no more! Getting the proper representation is key! Someone who will be relentless in fighting for you, to be your advocate! Attorney David B. Joeckel, Jr. Law Firm will relentlessly fight for you by being your advocate with their legal expertise. Attorney Joeckel and Attorney Walters, I thank your legal representation. I recommend this law firm to you, because they are the very best!
