Andrew Blake Piel

I've been practicing law since 1997, and am, broadly speaking, a business law attorney focused on complex commercial litigation, with a specialty in construction matters.  I structure, write contracts for, and represent businesses in court.  I litigate contract issues, disputes with other companies, insurance coverage issues, and issues with banks.  I also review and revise complex contracts and leases, and assist my clients in negotiating their terms. I am well-versed in bond claims, liens, and Texas laws that apply to construction, like prompt payment and construction trust fund laws; I teach courses in those subjects for Lorman.  I am experienced in the courtroom (both jury & bench trials, as well as motion practice), arbitrations, and mediations.  I have been trained as a mediator by the American Arbitration Association.  If you know someone who might want to talk to me, my number is. 

I began my legal career in 1997 as a Prosecutor in the Tarrant County DA’s Office, where I gained extensive jury trial experience. I transitioned into civil litigation practice in 1999.  I was recognized by my legal peers as a Texas Rising Star by Thomson Reuters from 2008 to 2012, and as a “Top Lawyer” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine in 2013 and 2014.  I am a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Construction Law Section of the Texas Bar, and the Tarrant County Bar Association.  I am Chair of the Construction Law Section of the Tarrant Bar.  I have been active in my community as a former Planning & Zoning Commissioner for the City of Arlington, a member of the Arlington ISD’s Capital Needs Steering Committee, and on the Board of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.  I am continuing my community service by serving as a member of the Governmental Relations Committee of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the Governmental Relations Committee of TEXO/AGC, and Arlington’s Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.
