Sandra Michelle Thompson

I am a native Texan providing affordable family and business legal services to the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and its surrounding counties.

I understand that sometimes clients have to make difficult choices, particularly in family law–related cases, and I strive to educate my clients about the law and its relationship to the specifics of their situation so they can make informed decisions. That is why I offer a free initial consultation.

I earned my Juris Doctor degree in 2010 at the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, which is now known as the Texas A&M University School of Law. Prior to practicing law, I taught classes in writing and literature at Texas Woman’s University, where I completed the coursework necessary for a doctoral degree in Rhetoric. After I left the TWU, I worked for years as a board-certified medical and scientific editor.

This pre-law education and experience have made me particularly good at drafting documents that are unambiguous and conflict-free. As an editor of highly technical texts, where meanings change with the placement of a comma, I developed a highly honed eye for detail. In addition, I am able to quickly and thoroughly read documents that other attorneys have drafted. I often find mistakes or unintended meanings that other readers have missed.

Many people who have little to no experience with the legal system find the idea of appearing before a judge or jury scaring and threatening. Although I often try to come to agreements outside of a court ruling, I am comfortable in a court environment. My education in Rhetoric, as well as my teaching, has made me adept at constructing messages to fit their particular purpose and reach their intended audience. This makes me a “natural” in the courtroom, where I am called upon to sway a judge’s opinion to get the desired result for my client.
