No way you are going to jail merely for owing rent. You probably received a lawsuit...either prepare to move out, or get an attorney.
Did you pay? They can lock you out, but they have to give you a key if you pay them your back rent.
Was there a lien on the car? Do you have the title of the car, and who has it now? These things matter.
Talk to the prosecutor if you don't have an attorney, and just ask him if he'll lower the charge if you'll just go along. These kinds of things...
