Both the husband and wife were self-employed. During the marriage, the husband had manipulated the marital income and purchased a large inventory of materials and tools for his business. The wife's b ... usiness was all service related with few material assets. However, the husband had also manipulated a large amount of unsecured debt into the name of the wife. She had received no benefit related to this debt. We convinced the Court that the property settlement as proposed by the husband was unfair, even though there were no appraisals nor a detailed inventory of assets. Lucky for the wife I was hired soon enough to obtain a restraining order to prevent distribution of the house sale proceeds until trial. The wife was awarded 75% of the sale proceeds. She easily covered the debt in her name. The husband was left with his toys, little cash, and a significant amount of debt.
