Rick L. Cohen

Rick Cohen is nothing but a criminal who parades himself as an Attorney in the DFW area. He should never be allowed to practice any type of law anywhere in world. He will also be reported to the TX. bar association and also to the BBB. My experience with him was the worst nightmare ever. On the 13 t...h of October 2023, he lied, texted me to meet him up at the court house for the withdrawal hearing of my case. I was exited to rush to meet him thinking that he had filed for the withdrawal of my case, because my case was a false accusation case. All for this sick scam artist to tell me that he brought me here to take me in front of the judge to withdraw from representing in me immediately after collecting the some of $2500 down payment from my family member. So The Judge told him to come back with his client the following Monday on the 16th of October 2023, but I was already scheduled for an Exray appointment on that same date. I was at the hospital very early, but he got the release that he was seeking and absconded with my $2500. After the EXRAY at the hospital for my fractured ribs, I went straight to the court house and I immediately got arrested and put in jail since October16th 2023 till February 23, 2024. He never came to try to get me out of the jail which he caused me. My case was finally dismissed and I was acquitted. According to the law, a Counsel or Attorney's withdrawing is required to obtain my signature before he could be released from representing me and he was supposed to file a motion to withdraw as Counsel without having to bring me in front of the judge to withdraw and to have me locked up when it was not even my court date. I had no business being in that court house on that date. He is nothing, but a crook. He is very interruptive and incompetent. He told me that a polygraph test was required in my case, came to find out, that that was inadmissible in my case. He doesn't even know the laws that he purports to practice.

My BAC was 0.071. I shouldn't have even been arrested. Someone recommended Rick Cohen so I paid him $2500 to represent me. He didn't communicate well with his own staff so he certainly didn't waste much time with me. After about 14 months of delays he wanted another $2500 to take my case to trial. I'...ll give him the benefit of the doubt and call him incompetent. But I actually think he's much worse than that. Anyone want to buy a coffee cup for $2500? That's all I got from Mr. Cohen.

After handing over several thousand dollars for the constant changes in my case that were orchestrated by Rick Cohens poor representation my misdemeanor case under this attorneys direction turned into a felony with prison time. I ended up hiring another attorney that was fortunately able to fix t...he mess that was created under Rick Cohen’s representation. I shared my detailed experience with other attorneys and their jaws dropped. My life and career were nearly ruined under Rick Cohens direction. Do yourself a favor and don’t let this attorney touch your case. I would have been better off representing myself.

Rick was wonderful, I had a very difficult case where I actually got arrested with a friends jacket on which in turn had like 3 little bitty bags of heroin in the pocket I was unaware of. However being a felon from 10 years back, I know how hard it is to get anyone to believe that story, knowing that... felony calls for 2 years in prison , I am so grateful to Rick for pleading the prosecutor down to only serve 30 days work release in county and come out clean and put this all behind me.
