Kason Richey Kimberley

An East Texas native, Kason graduated from the University of Chicago in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree, with general honors. He graduated in 2014, cum laude, from the SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas, where he was a Rosemary and Tom Medders Scholar, a judicial extern to the Hon. Terry R. Means of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and a member of several invitation-only moot court teams. Kason tried his first case to a Dallas County jury one week into this third year of law school through the SMU Criminal Justice Clinic. He won. There, Kason decided to dedicate his practice to individuals in need of an advocate.

Before law school, Kason spent three years as the founding Executive Director of the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance, a local non-profit dedicated to building a rigorous debate program for urban high school and middle school students in Dallas. He is a recipient of the organization’s Distinguished Service Award

In addition to his work at Miller Weisbrod, Kason also holds the rank of First Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he has served as a Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and a staff officer in the Texas Army National Guard. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Basic Combat Training, Infantryman course, Officer Candidate School, and Basic Officer Leaders’ Course, where he distinguished himself by graduating first in his class.
