Straightforward and helpful

I had a great experience with Roland Barbosa representing me in my divorce. It's never a pleasant experience to go through the legal process of divorce, but Roland made it simple and straightforward and provided numerous updates (and answers to my several questions) as I waited for the (long and slow...) Dallas County courts to sign the paperwork that had been sitting on their docket for over 2 weeks. An uncontested, amicable divorce should be easy, and despite the draconian Texas laws, Roland helped make the process as easy as it could be. When the divorce decree was finally signed, he gave me an update even before the electronic system registered a change in the case. His fee is straightforward, and he provided all the paperwork we needed for all the potential steps in the case, from initial questionnaire to final filing and special warranty deed for the transfer of the home. I would highly recommend Roland to anyone seeking a streamlined process to divorce in the DFW area.

He is the most courteous attorney!

I contacted attorney Roland Barbosa after one of my work colleagues highly recommended him for a divorce case. He was not at his office when I contacted him. However, his legal assistant, I believe her name is Marie, talked to me about 20 minutes telling me about the divorce process and details ab...out what I should expect going thru a divorce. I have no children; however, my husband and I have accumulated a lot of retirement funds and rental properties. I left my number and email address. Roland contacted me later that day regarding my situation. He was so experienced in these type of matters. I was so comfortable telling him about my situation. He was so patient listening to my story. I never expected a high profile attorney to be so patient with a potential client. After listening patiently to me for over 30 minutes, he explained in detail what would have to be filed and what to expect in Court. I never expected an attorney to take so much of his time to go over all the details of my case. I had called other lawyers but they never called me back. The one that did call me back, took 2 minutes talking to me. He then told me I needed $500 to go in to speak with him. Mr. Barbosa is really a peoples' lawyer! I hired Mr. Barbosa. He was not the cheapest lawyer I had spoke with. But in the end, it was worth it to have such a professional, experienced, courteous and very well dressed attorney on my side. THANK YOU MR. BARBOSA...I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU DID FOR ME!

Best of the Best

I'm a family court veteran. Been twice before and granted Primary custody in 2004 and 2008. My estranged wife served me for child support after 6 years of separation,.I knew what I needed in my representation. Experienced Presentable Personable Loyal Quick witted Attorneys are a resource... like a tool used to accomplish a vision. As a Father's Rights advocate, I hear hundreds of stories from other fathers who are not pleased with their attorney and the results of the case. I understand that in Family Court, nothing is guaranteed. I still did my due diligence and after talking to two other attorneys, I arranged a contract with Mr. Barbosa based on the criteria outlined above. Initial Consult - I honestly don't remember if it cost me anything. I knew ahead of time that this moment would come so I had savings for half of it. We met for an hour, I gave him the back story, all the current data and evidence to support my case as Primary Caretaker and discussed my strategy. He made some high level recommendations and outlined my best approach based on the initial consult. I liked that and based on the hour we talked, I measured he was a very smart person I could trust to handle at least the initial hearing. What Roland did was amazing. Dropping the formalities to get through this review. He seized on the strength of my case after our first meeting and made the biggest modification for me... I was seeking 50/50 (though for the entirety of my children's lives, they were with me 70% of the time with me as the primary caretaker) and no CS. He convinced me to modify my case to request more than 50/50 because I could have been awarded the 50/50 and STILL forced to pay child support. My ex had presented statements to the court that I had not taken care of my children for two years!! The AG, without any evidence of that, was pushing super aggressively to take money from me and put me $50K into arrears!!! Roland was able to block that. Roland helped me understand the true strengths of my case and we created a strategy to drive that to a successful court hearing where I was granted Primary caretaker where the ex-wife only received 10-12 days monthly. About what it had been in reality. The piece that broke the case. Roland is very personable in court. He does not incite animosity from the opposition and works well with them to try creating a win/win scenario. In this case though, my ex had two attorneys on her team. In a move that pretty much broke the case open for my favor, Roland, quick witted and thinking on his feet, took an item of data and got my ex to testify to it, though she probably didn't have to do so. This particular item was key because it showed her amount of finances reported were in question. Based on this, the judge recalculated her reported income to a more realistic amount. Roland was very attentive to me, meeting with me hours before our case was to be heard to ensure I was calm and understood court protocol and answered any last minute questions I had before entering court. We agreed on flat fee instead of hourly billing, as my experience with other fathers shows they felt "robbed" of their finances by the entire process, including their attorneys. He has a schedule of costs that allow you to clearly determine what each item will cost. I could go on about him. I did at times express some doubts to him about what he was doing to drive my case... I'm a veteran at this so I would poke and prod him every now and then to get a reaction. My favorite response from him was his reiteration of how much experience he has at this. It's true. He may look like he is not being super aggressive at times, but that is all part of the strategy. A calm mind surgically dissecting the situation. We won!

Honest, professional, affordable attorney

I called attorney Barbosa because I was in a very dangerous situation with my husband. I met with attorney Barbosa on a Friday afternoon and explained my situation with my children and a very abusive husband. Mr. Barbosa's extensive experience in family law really comforted me that he could provid...e me options to get protection from my spouse. He probably worked all night on Friday to get my paperwork prepared and filed with the court. By Monday morning I had a protective order signed by a judge and filed with the police. I thank God that he put Mr. Barbosa in my path. Attorney Barbosa is a miracle worker. And he allowed me to pay his fees on a payment plan. I would tell anyone looking for an experienced attorney who will really listen to you and help you to contact the Barbosa Law Firm...you will be glad you did!!!!
