Matthew S. Muckleroy is an Associate in McCathern, PLLC’s Dallas office. Matthew practices in all areas of commercial litigation and business law, with a focus on construction, labor & employment law, premises liability and subrogation. He also represents individuals and entities in the healthcare industry, represents creditors and debtors in complete corporate bankruptcy proceedings, represents developers and lenders in commercial real estate litigation and represents personal representatives in probate matters, among others. Matthew has successfully appeared before many of the trial, appellate and bankruptcy courts of Dallas County, Collin County, and Tarrant County.
Matthew was born in Houston, Texas and was raised in the North Houston suburb of The Woodlands, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated with honors in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Matthew worked for Devon Energy Corporation in Oklahoma City, OK, immediately out of undergraduate school, where he served as a Regulatory Accountant for Devon’s North Texas operations. He then moved to Dallas, Texas in 2004 and spent two years working for Bank of America Corporation in its Global Corporate Investment Bank as a credit risk analyst.
He went on to attend the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he graduated in May 2009 with a Juris Doctor. While at SMU, Matthew was voted Best Oral Advocate in his Jackson Walker Moot Court Competition. He also served as a Mentor for students at Dan D. Rogers Elementary School through SMU’s Dallas Kids Project. During his final semester, Matthew served as a Student Attorney in the SMU Civil Clinic, where he helped prosecute claims under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA).
Prior to joining McCathern, Matthew spent a couple years working for a small bankruptcy litigation firm in Dallas, Texas, where he represented indenture trustees in complex commercial bankruptcy proceedings. He then went to work for a Dallas-based, mid-sized commercial litigation firm, where he spent over three years representing companies and individuals in all facets of commercial litigation. During his time there, Matthew also became one of the youngest Associates to ever be named Partner.
Matthew joined McCathern in October 2014. He became licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in November 2009. He is also licensed to practice before the Northern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, Western District of Texas and Eastern District of Texas.
Matthew is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, as well as the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, where he also serves as a Member of the Judiciary Committee. Matthew is also a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Young Professionals program, the State Fair of Texas Raffle Committee, and the Mac Taylor Inn of Court. In his free time, Matthew enjoys staying active—running and biking around White Rock Lake, and playing various sports through the DAYL and City of Dallas. Matthew also tries to make free time to travel and read a good book. Matthew is an avid sports fan of the Texas A&M Aggies, the Houston Astros, the Houston Rockets, the Dallas Cowboys, and Chelsea FC.
