Matthew Ryan Kennedy

Matthew R. Kennedy began his law career abroad, clerking for two law firms in the United Kingdom, prior to and while attending law school. He graduated from South Texas College of Law and received his license to practice law in Texas in 2002.

After law school, he moved to Dallas and accepted a position as associate general counsel to a large family office focused on the management of a variety of global investments, with an emphasis in private equity, hedge funds, separately managed accounts, as well as commercial real estate ventures.

In 2008, his position with that office was merged into his existing practice at Kennedy Legal Firm PLLC. Matt currently helps the firm’s clients in a variety of areas; with primary focus on providing legal and business advice in commercial and private transactions, structuring of new business ventures, asset protection, and crisis management. Additionally, Matt has developed a private placement and general counsel practice for Dallas/Fort Worth based hedge fund managers and real estate investment firms.

Matt’s state and local memberships include the Texas Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, and the Dallas Young Lawyers Association. His international memberships include the International Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and the International Tax Planning Association. He is an Eagle Scout and serves as an Advisory Director for the Circle 10 Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
