John C. Tollefson

John is the immediate past chair of the State Bar of Texas Insurance Law Section.  His term is June 2011-2012.  He has served on the Council of the State Bar's Insurance Section since 2003.

He is a charter member of the ABA Litigation Section's Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. He was a founder and co-editor of Coverage, the committee's journal, and served in that capacity from 1989-2004.  He was elected editor-in-chief and served in that capacity from 1996-2004.  In 2002, the Section of Litigation of the ABA presented him with the Section's award for Outstanding Editor. In 2003, the ABA awarded him its Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his contribution to the Litigation Section and the Insurance Committee.

John has been elected by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” in the field of insurance coverage every year since 2006. He and the firm are recommended by Best's Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys and Adjusters and have received a Tier 1 ranking in the 2013 Edition of U.S. News - Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” John is one of four Texas insurance lawyers named in Who's Who – Legal, published annually by the International Bar Association.  He is "AV Pre-eminent" rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been AV rated for twenty-six years.
