I wouldn't recommend hiring this lawyer

I hired Ms. Bailey to handle a simple child support review case. In the beginning, I felt as if she was an excellent attorney, but as my case continued I became dissatisfied with her services, and I began to question her information and billing practices. The 1st thing she did was told me that my ...wife could not be present at our consultation because everything was confidential. I found this questionable, but had no reason to doubt her. Since then, I have retained the services of another attorney and discovered this is not true. Secondly, I was told by a member of Ms. Bailey's staff that I did not have to show up to a court date because it had been changed. However, I received a notice from the attorney general that I did need to show up for this court date. Since I received this notice on a Friday evening and the court date was scheduled for the following Monday morning, I had to attempt to contact Ms. Bailey's staff over the weekend to see what my next step should be. I finally reached them on a Sunday afternoon, and was told that a mistake had been made and I indeed did have to show up for court. I then had to rearrange plans and contact my employer at the last minute to ensure that I could make the court date. All of this was fine, but then I saw that Ms. Bailey charged me for every last phone call I had to make to her staff in order to get this information. When I told her staff (she was never willing to speak with me personally unless we were in court) I didn't understand why I was being charged for phone calls I had to make because of the misinformation I received from them, the only answer I got was that I was informed when I retained her services that I would be charged for phone calls. Mrs. Bailey also argued to have my case moved to a different court which meant everything would take longer and more fees for her. Now that I have retained new counsel, I have discovered this was not necessary as well. Lastly, I received a bill from Ms. Bailey stating that I needed to pay her $1500 (I had already paid $2089 for the original retainer) more dollars although I had $500 left on my retainer. I also had fees on my bill that I really didn't understand. I put my concerns in writing to Ms. Bailey about the confidentiality situation, the questionable fees, and having to pay for receiving misinformation. Again, her staff (which at the time consisted of her family members) just told me that I was told about fees at the initial consultation. It was at this point that I decided to part ways with this attorney. Since, I have obtained new counsel. My new attorney is much more experienced, much more ethical, much more reasonable, getting much more done, and I understand everything I am being billed for. Please save yourself time and money. Do not hire this attorney.
