Talmadge grew up in Sherman, Texas where he was a National Merit Scholar in 1991. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania where earned a degree in Political Science. Though he enjoyed his time at this prestigious Ivy League Institution(graduating in only 3 1/2 years), he longed for warmer climates and home. Returning to Texas, he matriculated to The Baylor School of Law in Waco. Just 27 months later, he had earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence.
With several options on the table, he chose to come home to Sherman to practice law. After a short period with another firm, he ventured out on his own in October of 1999. It was a scary time for sure. In order to prove himself as a young lawyer on his own, Talmadge refused to shy away from advocacy in the courtroom. It was here he found his true calling. The words seemed to come easy and the successes mounted. Now, over a 100 jury trials later, all representing individuals(not the government), the words still come easy and they are coupled with invaluable experience. This potent combination has led doctors, lbusiness executives, lawyers, professional entertainers, and professional athletes to retain his services.
Today, the firm does business as Nix|Poet with office in Sherman and McKinney(since 2007). Just like the early years, there is no shying aware from trials or vigorous advocacy of clients, regardless of the forum. Aggressive, Responsible, and Caring Representation remains the motto. The majority of his clients are Family or Criminal related. However, Talmadge applies his unique skill set to select business and litigation clients. Creativity, sound strategy, and cutting edge technology make Talmadge Nix and Nix|Poet the choice for your legal needs.

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.
Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.
Glenn’s comment: “Addressed by additional Law Office Management CLE in 2007. No subsequent issues. All issues related to management of staff and client interaction. No adverse impact on client or case outcome ever noted or determined.”
