William David Burrows

David worked with me and on my case for over a year, eventually ending with a plea deal. DUI charges dropped. In July of 2022 some friends and I gathered at a restaurant for a farewell dinner to celebrate our friend of 14 years. Said our solemn goodbyes while trying to holdback tears. On my way home I was pulled over by 2 police in a Rockwall PD SUV. Had no idea they were after me and was trying to get o...ut of their way. I then realized they were after me, turned into a safe parking lot that I knew of , in order not block traffic or create any mishaps. Officers ordered me out of the car and begin questioning me on why I didn’t pull over sooner and where I had been. They then began to order me to complete a series of sobriety tasks. I then let them know that there were certain walking tasks that I would not be able to complete due to a foot and ankle problem incurred due to an accident year and a half prior to what was about to be my arrest. Pointed out the massive amount of swelling with my foot and ankle. They said they would modify my tasks and they did so. I followed their directions as best as I could with while I could hear and see a bunch of commotion, voices and and 2 more police cars pull up. I was handcuffed put in the police car and asked if I would consent to. Breathalyzer Test, I agreed, then they told me they didn’t have one & would I agree to a blood test and told me I was going to jail anyway. I declined the test, as I didn’t want to spend what (in my eyes) could be a week in jail or however long it took them to get the result back. I thought I had passed their tests and after saying the alphabet, one of the officers said loudly “perfect”! Come to find out later as I was reading the arresting information Mr. Burrows collected, and in that report said I sang my Alphabet. Body-cam showed other wise, as my attorney David Burrows so clearly pointed out in court. He also pointed out that some of the other tests they ordered me to complete were not standardized tests and it was only an “opinion” if I passed the non-standardized tests. Mr. Burrows also provided and pointed out to the jury a few other incorrect /inconsistencies he found in the written statements the arresting officer made in the police report. Mr. Burrows brought all those facts, my testimony and the testimony of 2 others together in his closing statement. After deliberation the jury unanimously came to the conclusion of NOT GUILTY of the charges brought before them. Had I NOT taken the advice of my friend, whom had hired David Burrows 23 years prior to my incident my life would have taken on a totally, unforeseen trajectory. Mr. Burrows is an incredible attorney, asked me, my husband and witnesses the right questions and pointed out things & actions I took that were crucial to winning the case against me. Mr. Burrows stayed on top of information and dates, kept me informed on what steps needed to be taken, what information i needed to provide and consulted with my husband and I in his office several times. He sat with us a we reviewed Body-cam video, asked about info the body-cam provided. He remained positive about the case for the entire 11 months it took to get to trial and kept reassuring me I was not going to jail! My friend of a couple years gave me the BEST advice in something she experienced 23 years ago and has never forgotten Mr. Burrows and what he did for her. I can’t thank either of them enough.
