Michael is Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Within the Texas legal community, Board Certification means that an attorney has substantial, relevant experience in a select field of law as well as demonstrated, and tested, special competence in that area of law. There are more than 70,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Texas. Only 7000 are Board Certified.
Michael has practiced in the State of Texas since obtaining his law license in November, 1993. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree with High Honors. He attended Texas Tech University School of law on a full academic scholarship and received his Juris Doctorate degree Cum Laude in 1993.
Over the last twenty-five years Michael's practice has developed to include representation of both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy. He has appeared and represented clients in hundreds of bankruptcy cases pending both locally and as far away as Chicago, Boston, Delaware and California. Since 2001, Michael has appeared on behalf of and has acted as outside bankruptcy counsel for several Texas lawfirms engaged in the collection of debts in bankruptcy. He was a speaker at the State Bar of Texas Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Law Course in 2004 and in 2007.
A former partner in the firm of Campbell, Williams & Mitchell, PLLC, Mr. Mitchell has counseled and represented clients in non-bankruptcy matters involving taxation, debt collection, personal injuries, wills and probate, and other civil matters.
Mr. Mitchell is licensed to practice in all Texas courts and in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
