Anna was born in New York City but raised in Dallas, Texas. Her father is from Italy and her mother is from China, which sparked her interest in immigration from an early age. She also lived in France with her family where she attended elementary and middle school.
Anna has always wanted to be an attorney because she enjoys helping others. She grew up hearing about her mother's and other relatives' struggles with the immigration system in the U.S. so, she developed a passion for immigration law early on and studied it as her focus in law school.
While in law school, Anna clerked for the Attorney General's office and worked for a women's rights non-profit organization lobbying in Washington, D.C. to shut down sites where sex traffickers sold women and children. For her post-graduate fellowship, she worked for the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland pushing the issue of the sale of children in the United States.
After returning to the U.S., she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked as the Legal Director for Mil Mujeres Legal Services, a non-profit organization which provides immigration legal services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She then moved on to a managerial position with a law firm in the D.C. area, Johnson Immigration Law, PC. As managing attorney, she exclusively handled Asylum and U-visa cases. During her time at Johnson Immigration Law, she also dealt with Marriage and Family Petitions, Inadmissibility Waivers, VAWA, Dream Act, Citizenship cases, and Juvenile Petitions.
Anna relocated to her hometown, Dallas, Texas where she has opened up her law firm to serve the immigrant community in Texas. Porter Legal Group now has clients in California, all over Texas, up and down the east coast, and Georgia.
Anna is fluent in French and Italian and conversational in Spanish.
