Ashley M. Saenz is an associate criminal defense attorney who focuses her practice on juvenile law at Whalen Law Office. In her undergraduate time at Texas A&M, Ashley was a paralegal for a criminal defense attorney in College Station. She worked at a family law firm her first year of law school and quickly realized her passion was for criminal law rather than civil. She interned with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office as well as the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. She also clerked for the Second Court of Appeals for Justice Lee Gabriel for a semester. After gaining experience in a variety of disciplines, Ashley came to Whalen Law Office because she wanted to advocate for clients and help people when they are in a difficult time and place. She understands that facing criminal charges can be very daunting and she loves the opportunity to provide judgment-free help to clients.
Ashley has a special passion for children in the criminal justice system. In Spring 2021, Ashley’s paper “How to End the Cycle of Domestic Violence – Policies Focused on Children” was published in a law review journal. Ashley currently serves as a Director on the Board of Collin County Bar Association’s Juvenile Law Section and as a Mentor for Ethos Education Group.
Very active in her community, Ashley was accepted into Leadership Frisco Class XXV, a community leadership program sponsored by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce whose purpose is to develop a pool of qualified, highly motivated individuals interested in expanding their leadership skills, deepening their sense of civic responsibility, and becoming more involved in the Frisco community. Ashley is involved with other Frisco Chamber of Commerce organizations as well, including Women Enhancing Business and Frisco Young Professionals.
Ashley is extremely passionate about Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC), an organization whose mission is to bring together women lawyers who collectively utilize their resources and talents to support local non-profit organizations whose programs benefit women, children or families. Ashley serves as a Co-Chair on the luncheon committee and is a member of the social committee.
Ashley graduated from Texas A&M School of Law in Fort Worth in 2020. Ashley was an Order of Barristers recipient for participating in a mock trial competition team for 3 of her semesters, winning 1st place in a school competition, and for her service as Board of Advocates Vice President. Ashley also served on the Student Bar Association all three years, as the Criminal Law Society president her last year, and worked as a Chief Student Ambassador in the admissions office.
