Kristen Elizabeth Gavigan

Kristen Gavigan is a Senior Trial Attorney at Barbieri Law Firm in Frisco, Texas, defending individuals facing serious criminal charges throughout North Texas. Selected to the 2026 Texas Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers, she combines strong advocacy skills with meticulous preparation and a commitment to protecting her clients’ freedom, reputation, and future. Her recognition also includes The National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 for criminal defense.

Kristen’s practice includes sex crimes, violent crimes, family violence, drug offenses, juvenile matters, and federal criminal defense. She handles complex and sensitive allegations, including aggravated sexual assault and sexual offenses involving children, with an understanding that careers, family relationships, and future opportunities may all be at stake.

Her approach begins with listening closely and investigating thoroughly. Kristen takes time to understand each client’s account, examine the circumstances behind the accusation, and identify evidence that may strengthen the defense. She provides candid guidance so clients understand their options and can make informed decisions. Throughout the process, she treats clients with dignity, discretion, and respect.

Kristen’s commitment to defense took shape during law school through her work with the Innocence Project of Texas. Seeing the consequences of wrongful convictions inspired her to dedicate her career to defending the accused. Internships with the Tarrant and Dallas County District Attorney’s Offices also provided insight into how prosecutors approach cases, helping her anticipate challenges and prepare defense strategies.

At Texas Tech University School of Law, Kristen became a five-time champion in national, regional, and state advocacy competitions. She received Best Advocate recognition from the Texas Young Lawyers Association and was selected for membership in the National Order of the Barristers. She previously graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Kristen belongs to the State Bar of Texas, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Dallas Bar Association, Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and Dallas County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. At Barbieri Law Firm, she collaborates with fellow trial attorneys while bringing focused preparation and determined advocacy to her clients’ cases.

A third-generation attorney, Kristen followed her father and grandfather into the legal profession. She and her husband, Jordan, live in Dallas with their pets.
