Her passion for criminal law began in law school at Southern Methodist University, where she participated in the Criminal Clinic and represented several indigent defendants. She also interned at the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, the 219th District Court, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, and the Collin County District Attorney’s Office during her time as a student.
Upon graduation from law school, Carrie joined the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. During her eight years as a prosecutor, Carrie gained experience in several different divisions, including Misdemeanor, Felony, Domestic Violence, Crimes Against Children, Child Exploitation, and Grand Jury. As an ADA, Carrie handled hundreds of cases and established her reputation as a multi-faceted trial attorney with a focus in sex crimes, child exploitation and abuse, and domestic violence. Over the years, Carrie climbed the ranks and was ultimately promoted to Chief Felony Prosecutor.
Carrie earned her B.A. in Political Science from Wake Forest University, where she actively participated in several student leadership organizations including Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. She earned her J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she served on the Science & Technology Law Review, was a member of the Women In Law organization, and graduated with honors.
Carrie has had the honor of being invited to participate in several criminal justice conferences and trainings including the NCJTC Internet Crimes Against Children Course, the Griffeye Investigator Course, the Crimes Against Children Conference, the Conference on Crimes Against Women, and the Institute for Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse. Carrie was also privileged to be a speaker at the TDCAA Annual Conference in 2022.
Carrie has devoted her entire career to mastering the ins and outs of the criminal justice system. She brings with her the experience to be able to evaluate cases, plan effective defense strategies, and execute those strategies in the courtroom, defending clients accused of complex crimes, including drug charges, assaults, aggravated sexual assault, and continuous sexual assault of a child.
