Ava Greene Bedden

Ava Greene Bedden obtained her Law Degree from the Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1987.  Prior to relocating to the Dallas Metroplex, she served as General Counsel for Paine College in Augusta Georgia, providing advice and counsel to the president and administration of the college.  In this role, she managed all legal matters for the University.  She is licensed to practice law in Texas, Georgia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.  Ms. Bedden currently practices law and serves as an effective mediator in state and federal courts within the Dallas Metroplex.

Ms. Bedden has extensive experience in both the public and private sector and her legal practice covers a broad range of matters. She has counseled entities in many areas, including labor and employment, school governance, student discipline, human resource management, contract review and negotiation, government procurement, bankruptcy, family law and CPS matters.  She is an effective mediator, who has resolves protracted disputes both effectively and economically.

Ms. Bedden graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She has also completed school labor relations courses at the Harvard University Kogod School of Business and human resource management courses at the American University in Washington, D.C.  She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and currently teaches “The Legal Environment of Business” at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.

She is a member of the National Bar Association and the American Bar Association

Ms. Bedden has previously served as a Senior Attorney for the MAXIMA Corporation, Acting Executive Director of Human Resources for the Seattle School District, Director of Labor Management and Employee Relations for the District of Columbia Public Schools, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice in the Executive Office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia, and Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Charter High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   She has been featured in Ebony Magazine as “100 of the Most Promising Black Women in Corporate America.”  She has served as General Counsel for the Black Human Resources Network, and has served on various boards including the National Bar Association Board of Governors, Vice President of the Washington Bar Association, The Boys and Girls Club, Lynndale, Inc., and the Metropolitan Community Development Corporation.  Ms. Bedden is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
