All the other answers are fine. However, the bottom line is if attempts to obtain repayment fail then a law suit is the only legal answer.

There is more than a good likelihood the case has been dismissed. This means you would have to refile.

It is rare that I ever counsel a client to co-sign for anyone. There must be a credit reason they need a co-signer so consider that factor.
