I am a domestic violence and sexual assault victim. The judge ruled that I was assaulted and I was granted a permanent protective order from the court. Upon entering into a contractual agreement with Atty. Reed, she informed me during our in person consultation on July 13th that she would initiate ef...forts on my behalf in trying to move my criminal case forward to prosecution against my offender. Atty. Reed told me that she was going to work with the District Attorney's Office - Britney Green, so that my voice was heard. Atty. Reed directed, "Let our office spearhead that for you. Let us work with Atty. Green on that." Atty. Reed further explained, "We have worked with Atty. Green in the past and had great success in getting charges filed. We just had a case where we reached out to her and were able to get charges filed," she boasted. When my court case came up to get a new restraining order, Atty. Reed was out of town so another attorney had to represent me in court. Atty. Reed communicated to me that she would work on reaching out to the DA's office - Atty. Green when she returned. After Atty. Reed returned from out of town, I tried to get in contact with her concerning efforts with Atty. Green and the DA's office, to no avail. I sent her an email on August 24th that went unanswered. I called the office and spoke with Sage on August 30th, who set me up an appointment to come into the office on September 5th. On August 31st, I received confirmation of a meeting with the Chief of Police for September 5th at 3:00 pm. I immediately informed Sage of the new development and requested for Atty. Reed to accompany me at the hearing (2-min drive from 631 Milam St, Shreveport, LA 71101 to 1234 Texas Ave. Shreveport, LA 71101) since the meeting was regarding prosecution against my assaulter, and since it was around the same time on the same day that Sage had already scheduled me to meet with Atty. Reed in their office. Sage told me that she would run it by Atty. Reed and let me know, but that my existing appointment would stand. On the morning of September 5th, Hannah called and said the air conditioner was not working in the office and that Atty. Reed needed to do a virtual meeting. I informed Hannah of the 3:00 pm meeting with law enforcement and again made a request for Atty. Reed to meet me at the police station instead of our office meeting. Hannah at that time informed me that Atty. Reed would not be available to meet with me and the Chief. After making several conflicting statements to me, Hannah then rescheduled my meeting with Atty. Reed for online the same day - September 5th, with the same appointment time 2:30 pm. I was told that I would receive a Zoom link by 2:00 pm. At 2:20 pm I called Hannah and said that I did not receive the link and at that time she advised me that the attorney was out and not able to meet with me. At that time, Hannah stated Atty. Reed can meet with you tomorrow - September 6th - but she needs to know what it is regarding. I communicated to Hannah that I had sent an email already on August 24th directly to Atty. Reed. At that time Hannah informed me that I needed to send her the information that I needed to speak with the attorney about in order to confirm an appointment. Hannah told me that "The attorney is reluctant to meet with you because she does not know what it is regarding." Needless to say, the meeting with law enforcement, by myself, did not go over well because I was nervous, overwhelmed, and frustrated about how the chain of events had unfolded with Atty. Reed's office. I did not know how to champion my case alone during the interrogation which included victim shaming and victim blaming. I could have really used legal representation to guide me through the complex and traumatic experience. This has been a huge disappointment trusting Atty. Reed at her word, believing that she was going to do what she said she would do. Too many inconsistencies, and will not execute on clients' behalf.
