My wife and I first met with Mr. Welch in September 2012 to obtain a temporary guardianship document for my granddaughter as we were soon to be moving out of state. Mr. Welch met with me, my wife and my daughter (the child's mother) and was able to quickly prepare a "temporary" document which my dau...ghter signed. The notarized document was valid for a 6-month period. I then paid Mr. Welch, by check, for this specific service. While in this same meeting, Mr. Welch indicated that he could provide additional documentation that gave my wife and I guardianship over my granddaughter for a longer period of time but that it would take a few days to prepare the documents, have my daughter (the child's mother) sign the paperwork, and then have the documents endorsed by a judge. Mr. Welch indicated that his fee for this additional service would be $2,500. I then entered into a verbal agreement with Mr. Welch (in the presence of both my wife and my daughter (the child's mother) and wrote him a check for $2,500 for this additional service. Mr. Welch agreed to prepare the required documents and contact my daughter (the child's mother), who resides in Baton Rouge, to come to his office and sign the documents. Mr. Welch would then take the documents to the court to be filed and endorsed by a judge. Mr. Welch indicated that this process would only take a few days for him to prepare the documents and contact my daughter. Mr. Welch then indicated that it would take one or two weeks to process the signed documents through the court system. Since that meeting, Mr. Welch has not called my daughter (the child's mother) to obtain her signature. In fact, Mr. Welch has failed to have any further contact with anyone involved in this case (me, my wife, or my daughter). I have attempted on numerous occasions to contact him by phone, however, Mr. Welch has not returned any of my phone calls (usually my requests for him to return my telephone calls were made with his secretary). He has not provided me, my wife, or my daughter with any written or verbal information regarding this case since that first meeting. We have not received any of the additional documentation for temporary guardianship of my granddaughter that he promised he would provide and was paid to provide.
