Cameron Ray Waddell

Cameron Waddell received a bachelor’s degree in history from Furman University in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1988.  After law school, Cameron clerked for South Carolina's senior Circuit Court Judge, Dan Laney.  

Prior to establishing The Waddell Law Firm, Cameron was Special Counsel to a national asbestos law firm based in Dallas, Texas, a partner in a high profile plaintiff’s law firm in South Carolina and in 1996 was a founding member of LeBlanc and Waddell. LeBlanc and Waddell was designated by the Louisiana AFL-CIO as its statewide Occupational Disease Counsel. Cameron served as chief litigator for Leblanc and Waddell for twelve years. 

Cameron has successfully tried cases involving all asbestos-related diseases. These include mesothelioma (pleural and peritoneal), lung cancer, asbestosis, non-malignant pleural disease including plaques and thickening, and other cancers such as colon and laryngeal. These lawsuits have been litigated throughout the United States, including Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin.  He is licensed to practice in Louisiana and South Carolina.

For the past fourteen years he has practiced almost exclusively in Louisiana where he is a frequent speaker and lecturer to other attorneys at legal conferences and seminars. 

A well-respected member of the legal community, Cameron was honored to be selected as one of Louisiana’s “Super Lawyers” and is rated “AV,” the highest peer rating by Martindale Hubbell legal directory. 

In addition to asbestos cases, Cameron has handled other occupational disease and injury cases including hearing loss, benzene and coal tar pitch exposure cases.

In addition to these verdicts, some of his recent settlements include: 

• Over $2.3 million for a chemical plant millwright with mesothelioma;
• Over $700,000 for an electrician with asbestosis;
• Over $1.3 million for a chemical plant pipefitter with mesothelioma;
• Over $2 million for a chemical plant engineer with mesothelioma;
• $2.5 million for a ship repair company mechanic with mesothelioma;
• Over $4 million for a shipyard and petrochemical plant pipefitter with mesothelioma;
• Over $700,000 for a chemical plant welder who had lung cancer;
• Over $1 million for a sugar mill maintenance worker who had mesothelioma;
• Over $1.8 million for a food manufacturing facility and petrochemical plant insulator helper who had lung cancer; 
• $2.4 million for a petrochemical plant pipefitter who had mesothelioma;
