When my dear mother passed away in 2011, I continued paying off her monthly Home Equity line of Credit payments by depositing enough money in her savings account to cover the monthly automatic withdrawals. Suddenly in 2012, after I had previously (in 2011) informed the bank that my dear mother had p...assed away the bank closed her savings account, forwarded the balance to me (her sole survivor and ONLY child), and would not be able to continue to make those monthly payments. The bank folks refused to discuss anything with me and said they would only deal with a lawyer!
