I had prided myself for years on my ability to stay out of trouble and lead a very productive life. I attended and graduated University. I work as an actor/director and I only had minor run in's with law enforcement. That all changed when I was charged with a crime that carried a 40 yr maximum senten...ce. I learned very quickly that the legal system plays a numbers game when it comes to your case. They often start with an outrageous charge and attempt to get a lesser conviction. Something Ralph informed me on during countless conversations. I knew they had no case but I panicked and worried all the time... After all African American Men are wrongfully convicted everyday. Ralph stepped in and was the voice I needed from the beginning. Ralph challenged the state and the detective on the stand; The detective said "they had no evidence or probable cause to arrest me". I hadn't known it was possible to charge someone with no proof but the burden of proof on the state is extremely low & Ralph voiced his disgust in his legal approach. After my case was resolved, I reunited with my family. We currently I live in Corsica an island in the South of France. Last year I attended the Festival de Cannes as an invited guest. Almost 1 year after my charges were issued. Aside from my innocence this is due in large part to the work of Ralph Bickham. I can't help but think if I had gotten stuck with another lawyer or didn't have a lawyer my case may not have worked out the same.
