John C. Bono is the founding attorney of Bono Law Firm, APLC in Metairie, Louisiana. He has practiced law in Louisiana since 1978 and founded his own firm in 1980 — for nearly five decades representing injured Louisiana victims with a single commitment: every client treated like family, never a case number.
Throughout his career, John has handled over 6,000 personal injury cases, with several cases resolved with recoveries in excess of one million dollars. His practice focuses on representing injured parties, including victims of car accidents, 18-wheeler crashes, motorcycle accidents, wrongful death, slip and fall, premises liability, pedestrian injuries, uninsured motorist claims, and serious injury matters involving paraplegia, amputations, burns, scarring, and disc and nerve damage. John also handles general practice matters — real estate, successions, contracts, and corporate work — for clients and families he has served for decades.
John founded Bono Law Firm with a family-style approach to personal injury representation: making home and hospital visits to injured clients, returning calls personally rather than through paralegals or case managers, and offering free consultations with no fee unless compensation is recovered. His son, Michael P. Bono, joined the firm in 2004, and together they personally handle every case the firm accepts.
John received his J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1977 and his undergraduate business degree from Louisiana State University in 1973. He is a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association), the Louisiana Association for Justice (formerly Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association), the Jefferson Bar Association, and the Christian Legal Society. He serves as Coordinator of Men's Ministry at his church.
Bono Law Firm was named Best Personal Injury Attorney in the 2023 New Orleans CityBusiness Reader Rankings.
