worst experience ever. Stacy was hired as our LCM. She continued to want to meet separately with my ex and I, and would tell us different information, leading to more meetings. She felt it was too hostile for us to meet in the same room. You want hostile, tell parties different things. Just got ...a bill for 2 years ago. Have not received anything since then, was all paid up. I don't know what is going on, but that is ridiculous. Not a mathematician, but have never seen anything as confusing as the spreadsheet she sends out. Have had several people look at and they say they same thing. Invoice is better, but you have to watch it. Constantly receiving charges that were my exs. In the end, she just wanted to get paid. My two kids' and my exes and my issues were an inconvenience. We would get a final decision, and she wouldn't enforce it. Said she knew my ex was telling my son things he wasn't old enough to handle, but had no proof. Don't waste your time or money.

Review

I hired Stacy and spent thousands for her to be rude, insulting, dismissive and she charged me for doing things that were not required of her such as emailing my exes lawyer non-stop and charging me for it. I needed help enforcing a temporary child support and alimony order and KPS told me that they ...didn't have what they needed from her. She did not comply and I feel she purposefully dragged it out knowing there were easier alternatives for a single mother like myself. I ended up firing her and won my divorce case myself. That should tell you something.

Review

I hired her because I wanted to be represented by a woman and I also liked that her retainer fee was the lowest I could find in Wichita. I borrowed money from family and friends just to pay her in (full) each time vs. monthly payments and I did not get far in my case at all. I called her office cryi...ng because my ex who makes 6 figures didn't follow court orders and my children and I didn't have enough for groceries. The only concern she had was of me scaring off her new "assistant" I didn't qualify for foodstamps because there was an order regardless if it was enforced or not. Not only did she not care, she sent me an invoice and then threatened to withdraw from my case if I didn't pay her in full again. I thought maybe she was a racist, but after much investigating, I found she is just a good for nothing person to most people she deals with.

Negative Experience

I retained Stacy Ortega for one year and spent $8000 on my case. I found her cold and rude which was not helpful during an already difficult time. We made little progress. I felt ill informed. I believe a lawyer has the responsibility to guide a client through the court process and provide education... to help a client succeed. Family court is not always a just process and the client needs education about how to be heard, and how to succeed. I lost a year in this process, and did not gain any ground. We went to court one time only for approximately one hour.

client review

I have been with Stacy since 2006. She is an awesome person and an even better lawyer. She has worked with me in many different ways that other lawyers wouldn't have put up with on there best day. She is compassionate, professional, and prompt with whatever questions or concerns that I have or may com...e up with. I really feel like she cares! She is not in it for the monetary paycheck, she is in it for the well being of honest, truthful, hard working people. She will always have my business for as long as she wants to put up with me.I will continue to send her business. She has always charged me the same rate (200.00) from the day I hired her, it has never changed.
