Six years of false promises, waiting, and incompetence

While my life wasted away and I waited for 6 years on my case and countless appeals (with no income the entire time), I was assured by Mr. Gray that he "almost never loses a case," that he was "extremely confident" that I would win my case, and "the wait was well worth it." Meanwhile he chose to spen...d his time by doing a variety of things: he did not contact the proper people in a timely fashion to obtain critical information, he did not submit information to the courts when it was due, he treated meetings like therapy sessions instead of informing me about and explaining the law, he spent an abundance of time talking about his personal life, and ultimately he neglected my case. In fact, after some digging around, I discovered that he had been reprimanded by the court for "excusable negligence." That is, he had filed so many extensions (prolonging my agony) and offered so many excuses to the court that were dismissed as unacceptable that the court told him they'd no longer allow him to file any further extensions. He had excuses ranging from "I had a client commit suicide" to "I have ill employees" who left him short-staffed, etc. And, as indicated already, Mr. Gray was not forthcoming about any of this information--my family and I had to do internet research and search public records. This man may have a second suicide to use as an excuse in the future when he helps to further ruin the lives of misled clients who desperately need assistance. Completely unprofessional.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
