Malissa is a native Kansan with an international perspective. After spending several years abroad, she returned to Kansas to pursue her lifelong dream of helping others through the practice of law. Her career has been dedicated to public service, and she understands the unique needs of her clients.
Ms. Walden is committed to helping her clients regain control of their financial futures. She specializes in guiding individuals through their options for managing student loan debt and assisting families in navigating Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas School of Law, Ms. Walden shares over 20 years of bankruptcy experience with 2L and 3L students.
In 2005 Ms. Walden played a key role in helping attorneys across the state become Electronic Case Filing compliant. With her extensive bankruptcy experience, she understands that bankruptcy isn’t always the right option. She has a proven track record of advising clients on alternative solutions, such as negotiating settlements with collection and credit card companies. Her clients benefit from her guidance in managing creditor actions and understanding their legal rights, including how to handle unwanted creditor calls.
Ms. Walden is also a graduate of the Student Loan Law Workshop, further strengthening her ability to assist student loan borrowers in identifying the best options and developing a clear plan of action.
With a history of providing quality representation, Ms. Walden makes difficult financial decisions easier by offering knowledgeable and compassionate legal support.
Away from the Desk
Outside of her professional life, Malissa enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, two dogs, and two cats. The family stays busy with church activities, school events (including band performances), sports, dance recitals, volunteer work, and scouting days. They also take time to explore the various activities offered around the city, travel, and occasionally enjoy a well-earned ‘day off.’
