Ms. Benson-Hebberd was professional in conversation, but follow-through couldn’t have been worse. For a time (months) when I didn't hear from her, she had blamed some personal issues - everyone has them and I was paying her to address mine. Only every time we did talk and come up with a list of actio...n items, no action was taken other than calling to talk with opposing counsel, which was far too often and not per my direction. I would receive monthly bills against my retainer, but still no filings. I spent over $5,000 in legal fees and all that came out of it a year later was one, two-page filing and a 30-minute conference with a judge. No follow-up response filed to the petition as requested, no finalized mediation agreements, and in the same situation as when I started; with my legal parental rights being stripped from me. Then she tells me she had an almost exact similar case where she was on the other side, where my equivalent had a weak case, and she lost – terribly by her own admission…one would think she would know how to maneuver my case. She was clearly out-witted by her adversary/new friend. The final straw was the third email that after three+ weeks was never answered. When time is not on your side, you need representation that is dedicated to you. Stefanie was not dedicated counsel. I actually just paid the small retainer overage balance on my account, $30 or so, which she billed me to discuss withdrawing from the case from which I fired her. Ironic how that filing seemed to have made it the court.
