also known as Rhonda Levinson, Rhonda K. Levinson
Rhonda Levinson entered the University of Kansas as a National Merit Scholar and recipient of the prestigious Watkins-Burger Scholarship, awarded to the top 6 freshman entering the University of Kansas. Following law school graduation, Rhonda clerked for the Kansas Court of Appeals before beginning practice in the areas of criminal and civil law. As a life-long equestrian, Rhonda began practicing equine law in 1995, in addition to her practice of civil litigation, and moved her practice away from criminal law.
As part of her civil litigation practice, Rhonda has provided clients with assistance in complex disputes at all levels. She is accomplished in obtaining results through negotiation prior to trial, and she has expertise in both trial and appellate litigation. She found her work at the Kansas Court of Appeals enormously rewarding and continued her love for appellate law throughout her career. Rhonda has litigated cases successfully in both the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court, including among other types of cases, complex probate and construction matters.
A particular passion for Rhonda in addition to her equine practice, has been assisting small businesses with obtaining certification as a Minority, Woman, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. Rhonda enjoys the challenge of navigating the complex ordinances and laws applicable to the different certifying agencies and the satisfaction of helping small businesses grow through these programs. Rhonda was one of the keynote speakers at the American Bar Association Forum on Construction law Conference in Los Angeles, California in 2018, on the topic of business formation for minority and women businesses for state and federal preference programs.
Rhonda has served on the Boards of the North American Trail Ride Conference Region 6, Middle of the Trail Distance Riders, and is a member of NATRC, the American Endurance Ride Conference, Back Country Horsemen, and Kansas Horse Council. She is a contributing author and speaker for Better Horses Magazine, Better Horses Radio, Barrel Horse World, the Kansas Horse Council, and the NE Trails Council. Her articles, speaking engagements and radio interviews include: “You Had A Great Liability Release—Last Year!”; “Pre-Purchase Exams”; “A Disaster Doesn’t Have to be a Catastrophe”; and “Hauling Horrors-Transporting Horses as a Favor”. Rhonda competes with her paint horse “Maxie” and her Arabian “Tenacity” in competitive trail and endurance riding.
