Megan McCullough is an attorney at the law firm Carnahan Evans Cantwell & Brown, PC. She concentrates her practice in the areas of federal criminal defense, construction and real estate litigation, and other general civil litigation matters. She also represents select clients facing criminal charges at the state level. She is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri through which she accepts court appointments on federal criminal cases.
Prior to joining the firm, Megan practiced for six years at the respected law firm of Spilman Thomas and Battle, PLLC in Charleston, West Virginia. While there, she focused her practice in the areas of consumer litigation, product liability, white collar criminal defense and corporate compliance, and other general civil litigation matters. She also served as an appointed member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and the appellate Criminal Justice Act Panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. As a member of those panels, she handled federal criminal cases at both the trial and appellate level.
In 2015 and 2016, she was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a top-rated lawyer and “Rising Star” attorney in West Virginia. In 2017, she was recognized as a “Rising Star” attorney in Missouri and Kansas. Megan has been published twice in the Annual Meeting Notebook of the West Virginia Trial Advocacy Counsel and also served as a chapter editor on Lindemann & Kadue, Age Discrimination in Employment Law (2d Ed. 2015).
While in law school, Megan served as an Executive Editor for the Duquesne Law Review. She was a member of the trial team that won the regional ABA Labor and Employment Trial Competition in Chicago, Illinois and went on to place third in the national competition. She was awarded the Shalom Moot Court Award for outstanding trial advocacy and was awarded membership to the Louis L. Manderino Honor Society for her meritorious service to the trial advocacy program at Duquesne Law.
Megan is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, the Southern Missouri Women Lawyers organization, and the Christian County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before the the United States District Courts for the Western District of Missouri, the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the Western District of Pennsylvania, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania and West Virginia State Bars, though those memberships are currently in inactive status.
