Saundra's practice focuses on Social Security disability, family matters, and all types of estate planning. She is an expert at drafting documents such as wills, trusts, contracts and briefs to the court. Saundra spent eight years in the United States Air Force as a medical technician. For three of those years, she worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit of the largest hospital in the military. Her experience in the medical field has helped her to be a better advocate for her clients. She is able to understand and interpret medical records with ease, understand medical conditions related to her clients' legal claims and draft more specific arguments to the court based on medical jargon that other attorneys may not understand. Working in the largest hospital in the military also enabled Saundra to be able to handle a high-speed work environment and stressful tasks.
Saundra and her husband, Jonathan McDowell, are partners in their law practice as well as in their marriage. Jonathan began as a solo-practitioner paving the way for McDowell & McDowell, LLC. He focuses on business law, commercial law, and employment/labor law. Saundra and Jonathan have a dachshund-schnauzer puppy named Sabastian and a labradore retriever-beagle puppy named Janelle. They had boy and girl TWINS that were born on May 23, 2013!
Outside of law practice, Saundra and Jonathan like to go to Chiefs and Royals games, take weekend vacations, and take their dogs for walks in the park. Having fun with their twins is a daily blessing.
They also stay busy with involvement in the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) with programs such as the Ross T. Roberts Inn of Court at the Federal District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation (KCMBF), and the Federal Courts Advocates Section. They are involved with the Missouri Bar Association as members of the Solo/Small Firm Conference Planning Committee.
Saundra does contract work for a law firm in Liberty, Missouri where she consults with their federal court intake clients and writes their Federal Court briefs for their claims. Saundra has spoken on Social Security disability at the Missouri Bar Association’s Administrative Law Committee’s semi-annual meeting and several Kansas City area health facilities.
Saundra and Jonathan are members of James River Church in Springfield, Missouri and before that, members of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia.

Take a gander at this attorney’s Facebook page. I’d suggest never hiring her as she has no regard for the health of others, and her page paints her as a despicable person.
"Saundra McDowell keeps herself above the fold, always in-tune with legal changes and a pure joy to work with. I highly recommend."
"I endorse this lawyer. Attorney McDowell is an outstanding attorney with an exceptional reputation. She is a strong and zealous advocate for her clients and a credit to the legal profession. I highly recommend her legal services."
"Saundra is finally a co-worker. She has been in two firms before moving over to start McDowell & McDowell, LLC. I was always impressed with her commitment to her clients and the work. She is one of the hardest working attorneys I know and has made an immediate positive impact on the productivity and efficiency of the firm. Her clients absolutely love her and have the utmost faith in her. That faith is confirmed after she represents them for any amount of time. She has argued in Federal Court, on appeal from an administrative agency, three times and won all remands or reversals all three times. I endorse this attorney without hesitation and pleased that she finally decided to join my firm."
