Brian McCallister is the founder and owner of The McCallister Law Firm, P.C. Since establishing the firm in 1996, Brian has dedicated his professional life to representing individuals and families in cases involving catastrophic injury or death resulting from dangerous products, semi tractor-trailer crashes, automobile accidents, and medical malpractice.
Brian graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1988 and has practiced in the Kansas City area ever since. He was selected to serve on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA), and from 2016 to 2017, he served as its President. MATA is Missouri’s premier plaintiffs' rights bar organization, comprising approximately 1,200 attorneys statewide. Its members are committed to protecting the rights of individuals to pursue justice when they are injured. MATA provides legal education seminars, networking opportunities, and advocacy in the Missouri General Assembly, where it champions individual rights in the courts and the Workers’ Compensation system.
Brian is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. In 1995, he graduated from the prestigious Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, founded in 1994 by renowned trial lawyer Gerry Spence. In 1996, Mr. McCallister was invited to return to the Trial Lawyers College as a member of the staff. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois.
Brian’s career has been fueled by passion, love, and a relentless pursuit of justice. He has secured numerous record-setting verdicts throughout his career. One landmark case was the $16 million verdict in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in 2008, where Brian successfully proved the innocence of Ted White, restoring his reputation and giving him a second chance at life. Another historic win came in Clay County, Missouri, where Brian secured a jury verdict of $8,236,—the highest medical malpractice verdict in the county’s history. In that case, he represented Kim Steffen, who was dismissed and not believed by her surgeon, resulting in her bowels rotting inside her for more than 30 hours before emergency surgery was finally performed.
Most recently, Brian advocated for a family who lost a wife and mother due to a delay in emergency response to the correct address. Mr. McCallister successfully litigated on their behalf, securing a $4.125 million settlement from the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Kansas City, Missouri Board of Police Commissioners. More importantly, he secured an agreement from the Board to implement a quality review and assurance program. This initiative, named Cathryn’s Code in honor of the young woman who tragically passed away, mandates the random review of 50 emergency calls each month.
Brian has helped countless individuals through some of the most difficult times in their lives. He is known for his compassion, impact, and unwavering dedication to those he represents—and he will continue to advocate for justice with the same intensity.
Having grown up as the son and grandson of ministers, Brian witnessed firsthand his family’s commitment to serving others. This legacy of selfless service forms the foundation of his professional life. In every case, he strives to build close, personal relationships with his clients and their families, empowering him to advocate with power, persuasion, and passion. His avocation is singing, and he is often invited to perform solos at special events involving his clients and their loved ones.
