Jennifer Bowen Wieland

Jennifer’s practice is primarily in federal court. She has experience across industries in the areas of employment, intellectual property, class action defense, advertising and consumer products litigation. She has significant experience in the financial services and automotive sectors.  She also works with clients regularly in resolving pre-litigation disputes.  She has successfully obtained dismissal or summary judgment in cases around the country, including California, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Florida.

Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. She spent two years in Washington, D.C., as a legal assistant at Covington & Burling before enrolling at the University of Virginia School of Law, from which she graduated in 2002. While at UVA Law, she served as an Executive Editor of the Virginia Law Review and was a founding member and Executive Editor of the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. She also published a Note in
the Virginia Journal of Law and Politics entitled “Death of Publius: Toward a World Without Anonymous Speech,” which was cited in 2010 in an amicus brief presented to the United States Supreme Court.

Upon graduation, Jennifer clerked in federal court for the Hon. Lourdes G. Baird in the Central District of California. She then continued on to the Orange County office of Latham & Watkins where she practiced in both the Litigation and Environmental Departments. She relocated to the Kansas City area in 2005 and spent three years at Blackwell Sanders in the Education and Litigation Departments.

Jennifer joined Berkowitz Oliver in 2008 and became a partner in 2013. A mother of three, she keeps busy outside the office attending her children’s school and sports events and supporting the Virginia Cavaliers.
