PUBLIC WARNING: Regarding the Business Practices and Ethics of Dennis Waits

I am sharing this strictly from a crime victim’s perspective to warn the public about Dennis Waits' highly questionable billing practices, manipulation of funds, and overall business ethics. After his client was denied bond, a divorce was filed in March, legally freezing all marital assets. Dennis W...aits entered the criminal case on March 30. On April 2, he filed a bond review motion where he explicitly acknowledged in writing that a divorce was active.Exactly one week later, a marital IRA check for was issued. The exact same day that check arrived, Dennis Waits completely withdrew the bond motion. The fight to get his client out of jail vanished the second the cash hit his pocket. He promised his client he could get him released, giving someone in a vulnerable position completely false hope just to lock down a contract and use them as a fast payday. When my divorce attorney filed a Motion to Restrain the respondent and his agents from touching the IRA on April 30th, Dennis Waits’ immediate response just days later on May 5th was to file a motion to extend the criminal trial out by months. The judge formally signed and granted the restraining order on May 12th. When confronted as a third party holding funds that a family court judge has since officially awarded to me, his excuse was that he "had a lot of hours in" and that his client paid him for legal fees. I have a clear audio recording proving he admitted to taking these frozen funds. Filing a recycled bond motion only to drop it when a check arrives, and then delaying the trial right after a financial restraining order is filed, raises serious questions about his business practices and ethics. When you look into public records, this scramble for fast cash makes total sense. Dennis Waits has a documented history of public state tax liens, including thousands of dollars in unpaid withholding taxes for his own firm's employees. If a lawyer cannot even manage his own business taxes and owes the state, it is no wonder he would questionably pocket frozen family assets without a second thought. The public deserves absolute transparency regarding the business methods of Dennis Waits.

DO NOT HIRE DENNIS WAITS

In 2022 I was charged with 3 misdemeanors from Kansas City, MO. I needed a lawyer and I thought Dennis Waits would help because he was a well established attorney and ex councilman so I hired him. I gave him a down payment of $1500 thinking he would get the charges dismissed or reduced. He did abso...lutely nothing. He got a couple of continuances and then asked for more money. This time he wanted $2500. His plan for me was to plead guilty. I gave him the money and he did not do anything. He did nothing for me. I plead guilty on his advice. If i could given him zero stars I would. I did not need him to hold in court to plead guilty? He racked up $4000 in billing me and did not really do a single thing!!! Absolutely totally worthless, totally worthless. I should have just gone pro se and represented myself. I can not believe that this guy is a lawyer. Now I have three convictions on my record. This clown has a brother and two daughters that are also lawyers. James, Courtney and Paige. There are many lawyers to choose from but this group is not one you should consider. Do not anybody with the last name WAITS or you will regret it for the rest of your life.

DENNIS WAITS

In 2011 I was charged with 2 misdemeanors from Blue Springs, MO. I needed a lawyer who could help me with my situation. I thought Dennis Waits might be the person to do it because he was a well established attorney in Independence, MO so I hired him. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!! I ...gave him a down payment of $800(my tax refund) which he gladly accepted. When you hire a defense attorney, his job is to get the charges dismissed or brought to lower charges. He did absolutely nothing His plan for me was to just plead guilty. He had been on my case for about a year until I fully paid him off($2500 of my hard earned money). It was as if I just gave him the money and nothing more. I mean think about it. He did nothing for me. On my court date, I plead guilty on his advice. Was that "legal counsel" really worth $2500?Did he think I needed him to hold my hand in court and plead guilty? HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT PLAY WITH HIS LITTLE DING A LING DURING THAT WHOLE YEAR HE HAD BEEN ON MY CASE!!!!!! I should have just got a public defender to represent me. Another thing about this inept attorney is that he will undermine the seriousness of your case. When I asked what he was going to do with my case, he response was "Oh just plead guilty. They are just misdemeanors. Misdemeanors are not serious crimes." I can not believe that this guy is even a lawyer. I now live with these two convictions on my record. It's scary to know that he has two daughters that practice law, Paige and Courtney. DENNIS WAITS IS A BIG JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
