Terrible Lawyer

Hired David to file a modification of me and my ex's parenting plan. First of all I paid him what he requested right away. He was quick to put together the new plan that I wanted. However week after week I asked him when my ex was going to be served and she never was. I ended up taking papers to her ...and serving her myself by signing an affidavit in front of a notary. Then he never did get us a court date for the actual custody dispute. I ended up having him draw up another affidavit that I talked my ex in to signing, once again in front of a notary. He filed that. He assured me after this that all was good and nothing to worry about. First my child's last name was never changed. Come to find out he never put in the paperwork to change it. Then 61 days after the judge signed this judgment, she was able to walk in to the courthouse with her lawyer and have it set aside under the grounds that once again he filed paperwork wrong and didn't file papers that he should have!! Now I have a new court date and this could turn in to a disaster because she now has the upper hand and i'm obviously badly represented. Her lawyer is the best in the area and is running for judge of the county the case is in. He has completely set me up for disaster now!! So moral of the story is that he doesn't communicate what so ever! He apparently has no idea as to what he's doing! He files everything wrong! He is completely lazy obviously because he won't do anything that involves him getting off his ass like serving someone! If you want someone to just write up legal papers for you cheap then here's your guy but file them yourself. I have soley been handling my own case and even gathering my own evidence and building this case all on my own with absolutely no help! I have actually had to show him where we could do this or that according to this or that statute blah blah blah. I'm more of a lawyer then this guy and that's sad because i'm obviously not a lawyer or I wouldn't need him!!! Yea please if you seriously care about your child or case in general. Please Please Please do yourself a favor and find somebody else! This dude will be the biggest mistake you ever made and will cause you to not only loose your case but your child as well. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone ever!

extremely slow at finalizing cases

I filed for a divorce with david newell in june 2009. And now here it is march 2011 and still my divorce is not final!! He has dropped my case after being paid. I even paid him more than he asked for to serve the divorce pappes. Then he has been sending me bills!! Now i ask u how long does it take to... be granted a finalized divorce? And why would he just take somones money for services that were never final?
