Jordan Bernard Cherrick

Jordan B. Cherrick has represented clients for more than thirty years in appellate, commercial, products, patent, constitutional law, and complex litigation

For the past four years through July, 2020, Mr. Cherrick was a Senior Counsel in the Chicago office of the international law firm, Sidley Austin LLP for the past four years through July 2020. He worked in the areas of appellate and complex litigation. During his time at Sidley, Mr. Cherrick continued to reside in St. Louis from which he worked remotely on firm matters. Mr. Cherrick looks forward to using his extensive experience to provide first rate legal services to many former clients at reasonable rates in the city in which he was born and raised and practiced law during nearly his entire career.

He has briefed and argued numerous cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the appellate courts of Missouri. He has appeared in four cases on the merits before the Supreme Court of the United States and has presented oral argument in two cases involving constitutional issues.

In May 2014, Mr. Cherrick was honored for twenty-five years of service as an active elected member of the American Law Institute. Mr. Cherrick is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Cherrick has published articles in a variety of legal publications on the topic of appellate litigation, He has spoken on strategies in appellate advocacy. He has given lectures on aspects of constitutional and appellate litigation at Washington University School of Law and Saint Louis University School of Law. Since 2016, he has published numerous articles and posts on LinkedIN.

For many years, Mr. Cherrick has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, St. Louis Magazine’s list of Best Lawyers and the Super Lawyers of Missouri. He is AV rated by Martindale. Mr. Cherrick received the David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award for Outstanding Practice in Appellate Practice, which was awarded by the Missouri Bar Foundation.
