Tarihya J. McClain

I employed Tarihya McClain for a custody modification. Even though she was young, I decided to work with her because in our initial conversation, seemed diligent, ethical and professional. I am a Black woman so I appreciated the fact she is a Black woman working in a very white industry. Throughou...t my experiences in the court system, I was continually impacted by racist assumptions and actions. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend securing her services. She talked a good game, but did nothing to advocate for me or my case. She entered a motion I told her I didn’t want to pursue. (It was an angle that wasn’t strategic or even practical for me to pursue.) Despite what her client asked, she entered the motion anyways. After I asked her to withdraw it, she told me there was nothing else she could do for my case. This was a lie because I have since employed different counsel who have a variety of approaches to my case. I can only surmise that she decided to advance the interests of the opposing counsel and GAL rather than work for me, her client. I write this review, because I wish I had known these things about her before I signed my contract.
